Kombucha is a fermented tea drink that has existed for thousands of years, which may prompt many to ask “is kombucha good for you?” While it has long been used as a health aid, kombucha has gained in popularity over the past several years – and for good reason. Many people enjoy raw, organic kombucha because they know that it is made from real foods in small batches. It’s a drink they can feel good about consuming.

While science is still exploring the benefits of drinking kombucha, some benefits may include:

  • Increased energy
  • Improved digestion
  • Boost in immune system
  • Decreased risk of cancer
  • Lower cholesterol
  • Improved blood sugar control

Here are a few reasons why people may notice these benefits:

The base of kombucha is tea. Green tea has been found to have many healthy properties including antioxidants. It may help combat free radicals, lower cholesterol, improve blood sugar control, and increase protection against certain kinds of cancers.

Kombucha contains probiotics. The fermentation process, which combines a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) with sugar to fuel these organisms, can create probiotics such as those found in other fermented foods including yogurt, sauerkraut, or kefir. Probiotics are known to support improved gut health which can aid in digestion.

Fermentation creates acetic acid. During the fermentation process, acetic acid is created, which may help prevent the growth of harmful bacteria in the body. Vinegar also contains acetic acid which could support the immune system in warding off illness or infection. In addition, tea contains polyphenols which may have a similar effect.

It is made from natural ingredients. Raw, organic kombucha tea is packed with high quality ingredients, and since it is not pasteurized, it preserves many of the natural vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other elements found in the kombucha’s ingredients. For instance, Health-Ade only uses cold-pressed juices and organic superfoods and spices for flavoring, meaning there are no artificial ingredients or flavors.

It is important to remember when considering “is kombucha good for you” that kombucha is not a cure-all, and potential benefits can vary from person to person. However, many people enjoy how they feel after drinking it. It should be consumed as part of a well-balanced diet. By fueling the body properly, many people find that they have increased energy, improved digestion, better weight management, and overall improved health. While kombucha alone is not responsible for these results, it can play a role in contributing to an overall healthy lifestyle.

Health-Ade Kombucha offers a wide range of flavors to accommodate any palate; some flavors are sweeter while others are spicier or tangier. As with any food product, be sure to read the label to ensure you are getting a high quality product you can feel good about adding into your diet, like Health-Ade.
